November’s Big Challenge

This season has been unexpectedly busy for me. Between my work at the church, helping with school activities, a drawing class, writing work, and being a mother and wife, I have hardly had time to breathe. So, when someone suggested I take on a new challenge in November (an already hugely busy month), I had to give it serious thought. I finally decided that I ought not wait for the perfect time to take on a new challenge; that time will simply never come. So, I registered for National Blog Posting Month. (Fellow bloggers can look me up and “friend” me there.)

My challenge is to post every single day in November. Weekends and holidays? I must post. Sickness? I must post. Tired? I must post. You get the drift. Now, why would I do that to myself? I, who have already missed multiple weeks since beginning my blog in August. Well, dear reader, perhaps I am an overachiever or perhaps I am crazy (both have been suggested). To my thinking, the main reason to accept this challenge is that I love to write. And, in a pinch, when it feels like everyone needs something from me and there are not enough hours in the day, writing is one of the first things I let slip. So, I hope this challenge is the impetus that I need to spend a portion of every day focused on my blog and working on my writer’s voice. With inertia, perhaps someday sooner than later, I will be able to write my book and have it published.

In the meantime, please enjoy this next month of posts. I will be sharing some of my philosophies, passionate issues, theological questions, creative projects, and, especially, mothering perspectives. I hope some of what I say resonates with you and some of it doesn’t. I love to consider and engage different viewpoints. So, please share your perspectives and your encouragement on this crazy, overachieving, blogging adventure.

May this November be a month where you also challenge yourself in an unexpected way and may you exceed your wildest expectations.
